In cooperation with the Filmpalast Iserlohn, Lotti and Kurt approach the 65+ generation before the bi-monthly senior citizens' movie screenings. In the style of Waldorf and Stattler from the Muppet Show, they introduce a current prevention topic before the film.
Afterwards, the police road safety advisors advise the 65+ generation on current topics in an approximately 30-minute event - always compact, entertaining and with a lot of humor. Quiz questions, moderation, information trailers and the opportunity for personal discussions with the police after the movie make this prevention measure a unique offer. The concept also includes crime prevention topics, such as home burglary or protection against fraudsters.
Topics included driver safety training for the 65+ generation and bicycle/e-bike safety. We always work closely with our prevention partners. Thanks to the great success of Lotti and Kurt, other police authorities in the country have now also become aware of the project. Lotti and Kurt are therefore now also represented in other cities, but have their birthplace in the Märkisch district.
These senior citizens' cinema screenings give us the opportunity to specifically address the target group, which is showing a significant increase compared to the overall accident trend. This is the motorized generation 65+. We have definitely not set ourselves the goal of prohibiting them from taking part in road traffic. We are pursuing the following goals:
- to raise awareness that performance decreases with age and that this has an impact on road safety,
- to promote responsible participation in road traffic, in particular by "taking to heart" behavioral advice,
- to increase awareness that experience gained in road traffic requires further training measures (e.g. driver safety training for young drivers).
- increase the "level of use" of suitable safety equipment (e.g. cycle helmets, seat belts, driver assistance systems, reflective clothing, etc...)
- reduce traffic accidents, especially those with serious consequences.
